Meet The Florida LAKEWATCH Team

Chemist: Mary Stonecipher

Mary Stonecipher came from Knoxville, Tennessee, moving here in 1968. She received her BA from University of Tennessee in English and Spanish. After teaching in the Alachua County Public Schools, Mary began working at UF in 1973, doing laboratory work for Dr. Bill Haller in the Aquatic Plants Center. She joined Dr. Canfield's limnology group in 1979 and became the chief chemist for the water laboratory. Her laboratory analyzes all the water samples for Florida LAKEWATCH.
