Research: Christy Horsburgh

Christy Horsburgh is a Senior Biological Scientist in the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Florida. Since 1985, she has studied Florida's lakes and rivers. As a native Floridian, she has a deep appreciation for Florida's unique aquatic habitats.

Christy has been involved in several studies looking at the relationships between aquatic macrophytes, water chemistry and fish in Florida's lakes. As a limnologist, Christy specializes in aquatic macrophytes; she has surveyed the aquatic plant communities of many Florida lakes. One of her major research interests has been in the development and characterization of the Lake Regions of Florida, a cooperative project between the USEPA, the Florida DEP and the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. She received her Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology in 1985 and her Master of Science in Limnology from the University of Florida in 1999.
