In 2007, FFS conducted 10 off-site programs for 3597 youth and associated participants. FFS volunteers visited schools for career-day seminars and educational presentations on the biology and ecology of fish and aquatic invertebrates found in Florida lakes and ponds. Volunteers also conducted numerous hands-on environmental education and ecology presentations and fishing days around the state. FFS leveraged support from groups such as the YMCA, 4-H, and others organized by county extension agents to work directly with youth at these events. FFS also hosted interactive exhibits at youth fairs, festivals and museums, which allowed volunteers to interact with large numbers of school-age children.
