How You Can Help As part of UF and the School of Forest Resources and Conservtion, Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences is fortunate to have many of the resources necessary to achieve our goals. However, due to budget constraints there are always additional things needed to help us achieve our goals. Volunteers Just one look around during one of our Family Fishing Days will reveal how dependent we are on our volunteers. Volunteers help with tasks such as setup, registration, gear check-out and food preparation. Many also provide our guests with help around the ponds by measuring, weighing, and releasing fish, or just offering a little advice to novice anglers. This year we continue to host monthly Family Fishing Days that are open to the community. Not everyone can give up one Saturday every month, so our goal is to expand our volunteer list to lessen the load for everyone involved. Any amount of time donated will be a great help to the program and benefit our whole community. If you would like to help, please contact Steve Caton by e-mail or at 392-5283. Donors Running one of our Family Fishing Days also requires such things as trophies, prizes, bait, tackle, and food and drink. You can help by making a donation of goods or equipment, either through your business or as a private individual (those donations may be tax deductible). All sponsors will be duly acknowledged during the event. For more information on what items are needed contact Steve Caton. (List of Donors to FFS and Florida LAKEWATCH through January, 2008.) Sponsors Since its beginning in 1998, participation in Fishing For Success programs continues to increase. With increased participation by schools and other youth associations, and the implementation of our monthly Family Fishing Days, we project that over 18,000 children will be reached by the program this year. With the help of community businesses and concerned individuals, we will be able to continue educating Florida's youth and bringing families together for fun, memorable days of fishing. Future goals also include expanding the program statewide. Any amount (small or large) will be a great help to the program and will be used to cover operating expenses such as bait, tackle, and gear repair. All donors will be thankfully acknowledged.
